Elizabeth Carol Winchester started her career in New York City as a wardrobe and prop stylist and jewelry designer for many of the biggest names in fashion, advertising and entertainment. Evolving from the world of fashion, she now focuses her creative energies on sculpture, painting, jewelry and photography.

Winchester grew up around her grandfather, who was an industrial engineer and inventor working in metal. He fostered her interest in metal and jewelry. Her Great Aunt Edna, who studied at The Art Students league NYC in late 1920’s, also influenced her creativity by teaching her about shape, patterns and color.

As a young adult, Winchester immersed herself in the fashion world where she thrived and established her own artistic voice. In 2003 she suffered a head injury from a major car accident in Las Vegas. Through regaining her identity and abilities found comfort and solace in art.

Winchester is currently creating a fulfilling life with her art in both her painting and sculptures. Her wandering soul has brought her everywhere from archeology digs in Yucatán — to underwater explorations off Catalina Island — to historical culture of Europe. She has always been drawn to original forms of art including petroglyphs, hieroglyphs and first records with man in language and art, which influence her own art making.

A graduate of The University of Bridgeport with a major in fashion, Winchester continued studies at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, the Instituto Lorenzo de’Medici in Florence, Italy, the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CSN, (?), the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey with mentor Lisa Pressman, the Art Students League NYC studying under Robert Cenedella, Frank O’Cain and Larry Poons.

Winchester was born in Sherman Oaks, California and grew up in Connecticut. She now resides at the Jersey Shore with her fiancé Darryl Haley, who is a metal artist. They continue to collaborate on projects as they uplift and inspire each other.
