Lure series

LURE

My latest ongoing series started with large sculpture of a fishing lure call the Blue Beast. I loved the idea of a giant hook with a fly lure.

I started to think its an amazing word. My mind started reeling with giant gummy bears, Bobbles..etc… I thought, “wow we have been using that word since the beginning of time.”

The creation of earth itself has and continues to lure us. The unknown.

Adam and Eve and the apple… treasure hunters… advertising... politics… almost everything we do contains an aspect of luring. It’s never ending. Love... and art…

What is it about art that lure us to it and lures our patrons to view and purchase art? Throughout time, from petroglyphs to Calder, what is it about art that still lures us in? How it makes us feel? Where it takes us… it allows us an intimacy in the world of someone else. It captivates and haunts us.

It can just be a color, a shape, a meaning that tempts us, and has power to influence us and then to bait us.

I Love the word LURE..

Webster dictionary: First known use of the word was in the 14th century. Lure, allure , tempt, attraction, entice, coax, decoy, draw, lead, lead on repel. Entice, charm, influence, benefit or pleasure.
